Megan Hales
Megan Hales is a Sydney based artist who has gained recognition for large-scale public artworks and murals, and has refined her skills over ten years as a painter, muralist and fabricator. Inspired by the chaos of the everyday, Megan draws on iconography to pry open the cracks of late-capitalism, finding solace in the absurdity of modern life. Using a hyper-realist approach and hints of carnivalesque, she throws into focus the cognitive dissonance inherent to urban aspirations. Megan has exhibited in group shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth and was a finalist in The Darling Prize at the National Portrait Gallery, The Alice Prize at Araluen Arts Centre, The Blake Prize and Montalto Sculpture Prize.
