MEGAN HALES
Megan Hales is a Sydney based artist who has gained recognition for large-scale public artworks and murals, and has refined her skills over ten years as a painter, muralist and fabricator. Inspired by the chaos of the everyday, Megan draws on iconography to pry open the cracks of late-capitalism, finding solace in the absurdity of modern life. Using a hyper-realist approach and hints of carnivalesque, she throws into focus the cognitive dissonance inherent to urban aspirations.
Space Invaders
Hales’ exhibition Space Invaders sees a suite of eight paintings exploring shared living arrangements between people, their environments and the natural world. Executed in an incredibly detailed and hyper-realistic style, her cinematic paintings hone in on moments where nature intrudes on familiar urban scenarios, exposing the ever tightening nexus between natural and human environments.
