Art Incubator hosts
a Preview Night for each Art Incubator Grant recipient’s solo exhibitions prior to the official opening night. This
is a special event for Art Incubator patrons and supporters where the artist talks about the
work and engages with the audience. The
Preview Night also provides an opportunity to purchase work prior to the exhibition’s official opening.
Gala Art Auction
The inaugural Art Incubator Gala Art Auction was held in March
2018 in the atmospheric Cell Block building at the National Art School. The
event celebrated the work of the 10 grant recipients from 2014 to 2018. The
very successful auction was conducted by Ronan Sulich, Christie’s Art Director and Sebastian Goldspink, the master of ceremonies.
We are greatly appreciative of our sponsors for the night
namely, NAS for the venue, Ronan Sulich of Christie’s for the
auctioneering, Sebastian Goldspink, Mud Australia for the gifts and dinnerware, Yalumba & Jansz
for the wines, Riedel for the glassware, Lucky Buddha for the beer and Art Collector
for the magazines.
Art Incubator organises private tours for Patrons and special guests. These have included tours of the Macquarie Bank Collection, Cockatoo Island for both the 2018 and 2020 Sydney Biennales, insider tours of Sydney Contemporary as well as hosting artist studio visits and artist dinners.
COVID-19 Art Project
Art Incubator initiated the
COVID-19 Art Project in mid 2020 as a response to the climate of financial
uncertainty for the arts and artists. In a time of reduced resources and many
job losses in the arts sector, the aim of the COVID-19 Art Project was to
create an opportunity for collectors
and supporters to acquire works at a fixed price of $950 with all proceeds
going directly to the artists. The COVID-19 Art Project was an innovative contribution to support the arts and raised over $30 000, all of which went directly to the participating artists.
